Mark your calendar for our February events:

February 12- Dominoes Day at Hill Country BBQ, 1:00 - 4:00pm. Come enjoy a few games of 42 and some excellent BBQ. There's a beginner's table for those needing to brush up on their skills. Hill Country is at 410 7th Street, NW (click here for map) near Archives (Yellow/Green) and Gallery Place (Green/Yellow/Red).

February 16- Howdy Hour at Hard Times in Clarendon, 6:00 - 8:30pm. Enjoy great chili, wings, drinks, and catching up with fellow Aggies! Hard Times is at 3028 Wilson Boulevard (click here for map) directly across from the Clarendon Metro (Orange).

March 8- Josh Abbott Band opening for Pat Green at the 9:30 Club, 7:00pm. Closer to the event we'll set up a meeting spot for those who want to attend together. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here. The 9:30 Club is just off U Street at 815 V St., NW (click here for map)

Save the date: Muster is on Saturday, April 21st. The ceremony will be held at the Army-Navy country club. More details will be coming in the next few weeks. If you would like to help support Muster so that all the funds raised can go to our Scholarship Fund, email Emmanual Guillory at eguillory@gmail.com.

Texas Universities Happy Hour is This Thursday!

Howdy!

Join us on Thursday, January 26th from 6-8pm at Hill Country BBQ in DC for a Howdy Hour with DC-area alumni from t.u., SMU, Tech, Baylor, TCU, Rice, UNT, and other Texas Universities. There will be no cover, several drink specials, and Hill Country will provide some free snacks in addition to their awesome BBQ menu. Plus, if you come to the Howdy Hour you'll be there with great access to the (no cover) Wil Gravatt show playing immediately afterwards. Hill Country is at 410 7th St., NW (click here for map) near the Archives Metro (Green/Yellow).

Then this weekend, come out to the DC Armory to watch the DC Rollergirls on Saturday, January 28th. The first match is at 4pm, the second at 5:45; come for one or both! Scholarship Applications Due April 20th

Don't forget that applications for the NCTAMC Scholarship are due April 20, 2012. The Christmas break is the perfect time to finish and submit the application. Any currently enrolled student or student starting Fall 2012 is eligible, as long as they meet the requirements below.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

-- Applicants must be a resident of the Washington, DC Metropolitan area / National Capital Region.

-- Applicants must be a current student or have been accepted for studies in graduate/undergraduate course work at Texas A&M University at the College Station or Galveston campuses.

-- Previous recipients of the National Capital Texas A&M Club Scholarship may reapply.

-- The award of the scholarship is contingent upon acceptance and enrollment at Texas A&M University or proof of good academic standing with the University.

-- Applications should be received no later than April 20th, 2012

DC Aggies and SEC Happy Hour this Thursday to support Toys for Tots

Our first event with the SEC is the Toys for Tots happy hour this Thursday (Dec 8th) at Clyde's of Gallery place from 6-9pm. DC Aggies formed a reputation with the Big XII of never having a disappointing turnout. Help our new SEC friends see that the 12th Man shows up in force by coming to Clyde's this Thursday to enjoy food and drinks with them and other Aggies!

Your $5 donation or toy will help a child have a joyful Christmas this year. Know that your donation will go to a child in one of the 12 counties in the DC area served by the local Toys for Tots program. Help show the true Aggie spirit of generousity!

If you're going to be in the DC area and looking for somewhere to watch our last appearance in the Big XII as we take on t.u., we have confirmed with Grand Slam Sports Bar that they'll be open and will be showing the game! Kickoff is at 8pm ET. Grand Slam is inside the Grand Hyatt hotel, go inside the hotel, down one escalator, and Grand Slam will be right in front of you. The address is 1000 H St. NW, Washington, DC, and is right at the Metro Center metro station (Red/Blue/Orange). The Gallery Place metro station (Yellow/Green/Red) is also nearby.

Howdy! We will gather to watch Texas A&M play OU this Saturday at Grand Slam in DC. Kickoff is at 3:30pm ET and will be televised on ABC. Join other Aggies and enjoy the game with Grand Slam's $2-off appetizers special as well as $15 buckets of Shiner - and we'll sell Blue Bell ice cream at halftime to raise money for the scholarship fund.

We'll have $15 buckets of Shiner, $2 off appetizers, and Blue Bell during half time. Don't forget to bring your new membership card to receive discounts on raffle tickets! See an officer to have your card signed, or to pick yours up.

White Out, Towel Out at A&M vs. Baylor Game Watching Party

“Now more than ever, it is important to remember that we are not only Aggies, but we are Texans. It is time to show the rest of the state of Texas what the Aggie Spirit is all about.” Aggie Wildfire Relief

Aggie Wildfire Relief, a new organization on campus, is organizing White Out, Towel Out at Kyle Field for the A&M vs. Baylor game. Attendees are being asked to wear white (the color of hope) to the game and purchase a special $3 towel to show support and raise money for the wildfire victims and firefighters. All proceeds from the towel sales go to support the charities chosen by Aggie Wildfire Relief: the American Red Cross of Texas and the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund.

The DC Aggies have ordered the special towels, and will be selling them at the game watching party Saturday, October 15th. Come out, wear white, and buy a towel: we may not be at Kyle Field, but we can show that the Aggie Spirit is alive and well in the DC area!

Help Welcome the A&M Women's Basketball Team to DC

Join the DC Aggies in welcoming the 2011 NCAA Women's Basketball National Champions to Washington, D.C. The Lady Aggies will be meeting with President Obama at a special reception at the White House on Thursday, October 6th. After their reception, the team, along with A&M President R. Bowen Loftin, athletic director Bill Byrne, and head coach Gary Blair, will attend a special dinner in the Atrium Room of the Old Ebbit Grill at 6:30 p.m. (675 15th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20005). DC Aggies are invited to attend the dinner. The price is $75 per person for a set menu; a cash bar will be offered.

Howdy!

Come out to the A&M vs. OSU Game Watching Party on Saturday to pick up your newest membership benefit: the National Capital Texas A&M Club Membership Card.

Every member will receive a card that entitles them to additional membership benefits, including:
- 2 for 1 discounts on raffle tickets at Game Watching and other events
- Members Only drawings at select events
- track events attended to compete for a special prize at the end of the membership year for "Most Events Attended"

You must keep track of your card and bring it to events to be eligible for the additional benefits- officers will not be tracking attendance separately or backdating signatures on cards. If you can't make it to Saturday's Game Watching, you will be able to pick up your card at other events.
